About Me
Anjelikka Serenity is a multi-disciplinary artist based in the St. Louis, Missouri area, currently in her final year studying studio art at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Born and raised in Southern Illinois, Anjelikka’s artwork is inspired by the experiences of individuals raised in rural areas without proper access to mental healthcare. With a background studying psychology Anjelikka fuses personal experience, an understanding of lifespan development, and the impacts of trauma, to create artwork to spark conversation.
Since the year 2000, Anjelikka has had a deep connection to all forms of artwork. While she primarily works in two-dimensional mediums such as painting, textiles, drawing, and printmaking, she also works in ceramics as well as digital mediums. Anjelikka enjoys using color to depict mood, creating pieces that can provide a sense of childhood whimsy while displaying an obvious melancholic mood without completely diminishing any sense of hope. As an artist, she hopes to create pieces that lead individuals to discuss the importance of equitable access to mental healthcare and remind the audience of the power of resilience.
